Some people hunt it as their main goal in roulette, some don’t consider it an important achievement: RR map records have been popular statistics over the years, with more and more players and spectators paying attention to them lately. Today we’re going to be counting down the top 10 longest-standing Roulette Rivals map records, ranked by how long they have been (or were) the fastest completions in the tournament history.
A spin in Roulette Rivals is timed from when the players receive it on their overlay, to the moment the winner exits the map. Early tournaments were timed by hand, nowadays the tournament data is all integrated within RRStats. For this Top 10 list, imagine that we are on Aug 9th 2024, the first day of Roulette Rivals 15, the first time these records can be broken again.
#10 - Sapienza in 4:29 by Papierfresse
Held for 550 days between Nov 20th 2021 (RRWC2021) and May 24th 2023 (RR11)
Sapienza is one of the two maps with multiple entries in this Top 10, defined by two dominant performances. The second of them was achieved by Papierfresse, who played only in his second tournament against Ducker in RRWC 2021. While the Serbian won this Round 2 match of the knockout stage, Papierfresse still set an impressive benchmark for the quick Season 1 map, thanks to a spin achievable before Silvio entered the observatory.
Two kills done by three minutes is nowadays a trivial feat for a good amount of spins, but Papierfresse was able to hold onto the record for a year and a half. The record was eventually taken back by Frote7, while the current record stands at 3:58 by Scruffy.
#9 - Whittleton Creek in 4:05 by Jokerj
Held for 569 days between Aug 16th 2022 (RR9) and Mar 7th 2024 (RR13)
This Round 1 match of the RR9 Console bracket was special for several reasons. It was a shock first-round meetup of RR8 finalists Jokerj and Phanium, Jokerj immediately took revenge for losing his last match, and the game was over before it began. Following Dartmoor, Jokerj won a Whittleton Creek photo finish, featuring a famously quick Nolan electrocution kill.
Funnily enough, this record would also be broken with Nolan Electrocution, in a spectacular 3:27 to 3:28 tie, giving Scruffy the new map record over Phanium in RR13.
#8 - Sapienza in 4:58 by Frote7
Held for 573 days between Apr 26th 2020 (RR2) and Nov 20th 2021 (RRWC2021)
The slower Sapienza record of this Top 10 is also the one that stood a few weeks longer. The earliest match in our list is the RR2 Grand Final, a time when even finishing in 60 minutes was a challenge. Frote7’s record lasted until the end of 2021, by which point players really started to take the game seriously. In a way, Frote’s sub-5 Sapienza on a beginner spin is one of the first professional achievements in roulette history.
#7 - Dartmoor in 1:27 by Jokerj
Held for 580 days between Oct 30th 2022 (RRWC2022) and Jun 1st 2024 (RR14)
The group stage of the RR World Championship is a unique atmosphere for several reasons, including the ability to pick the same map multiple times. Jokerj, the Dartmoor enthusiast of the community attempted to hunt the record of the quickest map, and after tying Phanium’s 1:36 nine days earlier, he got a dream spin to set a new benchmark. Electrocution as Private Investigator, there are very few spins a player would rather take, and ironically this was the exact spin Phanium took the record back with at the end of RR14.
#6 - Hokkaido in 2:39 by Meekah
Held for 630 days since Nov 18th 2022 (RRWC2022)
Map records are not always broken, they are sometimes tied. The most extreme case of this was when Hokkaido was achieved in 3:25 on three separate occasions: by Pigiero, then by Blithe, and finally by Blithe again. This three-way tie was finally broken by Meekah, who defeated both the record and one of the record holders deep in the RRWC 2022 knockout stage.
Meekah’s spin was fortunate but execution was also needed, judging by how close players have come to their record. DaniButa’s quickest Hokkaido was 2:42 on a very similar spin, while Sparkles and aphrodyqe missed a rare opportunity to break the 90-second barrier on one of the quickest Hokkaido spins possible.
#5 - Santa Fortuna in 5:53 by DaniButa
Held for 642 days since Nov 6th 2022 (RRWC2022)
The second longest-standing current record features the most jaw-dropping run, as on the final day of the 2022 world championship group stage spectators saw the record get broken by almost three full minutes.
The spin itself was lenient but didn’t scream for a barrier-breaking run like it ended up being. There was no need for detours, with a Mansion Staff kill for Rico, a Hippie kill for Andrea and a Coca Field Guard kill for Jorge, all with items from loadout. It was a simple job well done by DaniButa, he was out with a first try at 5:05 IGT.
Since that day in 2022, the closest anyone has gotten to a sub-6 Santa Fortuna was when Scruffy defeated Falcon in 6:13, while TheTimeCube has three wins on the map in under 7 and a half minutes, the record will likely be broken by one of the two.
#4 - Hokkaido in 3:45 by Frote7
Held for 650 days between Jul 25th 2020 (RR3) and May 6th 2022 (RR8)
For the longest time, Hokkaido was defined by the sauna lure at 4:15 IGT, meaning a run was capped at just under 5 minutes in real time. Alternative strategies have always existed, but in the early years, people weren’t considering a potentially risky emetic or gondola strategy as much as they should have.
The one exception came in the RR3 LB Final, where a live Yuki kill as Amos Dexter allowed the emetic isolation to shine. Yuki was eliminated by 1:30, and the second kill was proven no challenge: Frote7 blitzed through to the final and the championship, while the record stood all the way until Pigiero’s first 3:25 run in RR8.
#3 - New York in 2:15 by In4Fun
Held for 708 days between Nov 17th 2021 (RRWC2021) and Oct 26th 2023 (RRWC2023)
New York has mostly been a competitive map, with back-and-forth record changes until RRWC 2021. In4Fun has held the record on three separate occasions, for nine months after beating davidredsox’s 3:45, 15 days after GuLe broke the 3-minute barrier, and 708 days after Pigiero’s six-day stint as the record holder.
The Round 1 match of RRWC 2021’s knockout stage featured the single easiest spin of the map: Neck Snap as Security Guard. In4Fun won the map by ten seconds but would go on to lose the match, though his record endured for almost two full years. People would start to hunt the map more and more, and eventually Scruffy was the one to break the record, first to 2:10, then to 1:55, and finally to 1:53.
#2 - Miami in 5:23 by Yannini
Held for 836 days between Jul 23rd 2020 (RR3) and Nov 6th 2022 (RRWC2022)
There are dream spins on all maps, but nothing compares to receiving a car kill for Sierra with a convenient disguise. That is what happened to Yannini in his RR3 WB Final against Frote7. Though it wasn’t the ideal pair of disguises (Ted Mendez and Waiter), the combination of Sniper with a remote kill was more than enough to make history.
While it wasn’t the best-executed spin (though it certainly was for RR3 standards), the sub-5.5-minute run was just ahead of the meta runs for a long time. With quicker plans and better mechanics, players eventually broke the barrier, first DaniButa on the same day as his #5 Santa Fortuna run. The record is now another full minute faster, retaken by Yannini with a 4:17 early in 2024.
#1 - Marrakesh in 4:38 by ChrisX3
Held for 999 days since Nov 14th 2021 (RRWC2021)
The barrier of all map barriers, and possibly the most famous map record in RR history has been held by ChrisX3 for almost 1000 days. If the “438” survives the opening day of RR15, it’ll be the first record to reach the four-digit mark.
Like all other maps, players have always tried to break Marrakesh’s meta by figuring out faster double isolations, most famously Reza Emetic + Claus Honeycomb and Claus Lockdown. These technical strategies still haven’t fully become mainstream so seeing one pulled off in 2021 was no doubt monumental.
Combine the novel Honeycomb with perfect execution on an already quick spin and you get the benchmark that’s been the most difficult to beat. Players have come close, of course, most notably Jokerj with a 5:06 in RR11, then a 5:04 in RR13. As more and more players preplan for school start, it feels inevitable, that like all map records, Marrakesh would also get beaten, but ChrisX3’s achievement will forever remain one of the defining single-map performances in roulette history.
The honourable mentions for this list have to be the five other records set four or more tournaments ago that are still standing:
Moo’s 3:22 in Mendoza during RR10 (526 days),
In4Fun’s 2:52 in Isle of Sgàil during RR11 (448 days),1
Phanium’s 5:45 in Colorado during RR11 (439 days),
Scruffy’s 1:26 in Dubai during RR11 (427 days),
Scruffy’s 5:37 in Haven Island during RR12 (334 days).
